*Second Masters (Assistant Heads):  When Knowles retired, Normanton and Strugnell were made joint second masters until Strugnell moved to Ashmole as head.  Normanton then continued alone until he died in post in 1950 when 'Poker' Pearce became second master.  I'm indebted to Ian Sadler for this (and quite a lot of other) info.
