Rock samphire / Corn carw y môr / Ffenigl y môr / Crithmum maritimum

Flowers June-August

rock samphire
One of the Welsh names for this rather uncommon plant of sea cliffs means 'sea antler' and that's due to the antler-like shapes made by the leaves.  The tiny flowers are succeeded by ridged purplish fruits.  I found this specimen in a secluded cove near Polruan, Cornwall.  The fact that the image is a bit out of focus is no doubt due to the precarious position from which I had to take it (any excuse !)
