| This photo was probably taken in 1955 when I was 12. The setting is the back garden of 4 Connaught Road, but I can't think who could have taken the picture unless it was Mrs Akerman from next door. My mother Grace was by now 45, my father Frank was 51 and my grandmother Rosa 81. I don't remember my father having an eye problem at the time - I think he must have blinked as the shutter was opened. My marvellous scowl seems to illustrate to perfection my chapters dealing with this period. |
